Purpose of SFPA

Sherwood Fast Pitch Association (SFPA) is a non-profit fast pitch softball association serving the youth of our community and their families. The objective and purpose of SFPA is to promote, foster, develop, and maintain youth softball for girls as young as 7/8 through 18. SFPA provides girls with an opportunity to participate in team sports, to develop athletic skills, to learn the meaning of sportsmanship, to make friends, to develop positive self-esteem and self-confidence and, above all, to have fun.

SFPA is also known as the “Sherwood Fireballs”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your refund policy?
Tournament & Futures Program - No refund will be available once offer has been extended and accepted.

What is the difference between Little League and Fireballs Futures?
While some of our age groups do overlap, the Futures program caters to those players that have dreams to one day play at a competitive level. Or even those that may just want to dip their toe in and see if it could be the right fit. The SFPA can offer a pipeline of tournament resources (coaching development, player development, training, private coaches, player and coach mentors and more) while keeping the team Sherwood based, focused on improving specific softball skills and building life-long friendship across the softball community. Futures offers traditional Rec like games, a developmental and competitive atmosphere, exposure to 1-2 tournaments and support the transition to being a competitive player.

What items are needed for a new player?
We recommend having a softball mitt, a bat, a helmet and cleats. We highly encourage a fielder's mask for all levels of play, but not required.

When is the Dick's Coupon Weekend for the Fireballs?
We have finalized our Dick's Coupon Weekend for 2025! April 4-7th at the Lake Oswego Dick's location. Formal coupon will be emailed to our registered players.

I am considering volunteering to coach, what are the requirements?
While formal training is not necessary for Fireball Futures, we do ask that there is knowledge of the game (playing or coaching) and a great attitude! Your commitment to these young ladies help grow their love for the sport, and we always hope to have them return! We have very knowledgeable coaches and board members who are always willing to support new coaches.

Do the Fireballs offer scholarships?
We do! We offer a number of scholarships for players. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like an application. Once the application is received, it may be reviewed with our Board members.

Where do I find Fireballs fan gear?
Open 24/7 is our gearUP site. This is where families can order items year round. There are a few times a year (winter and early spring), where we partner with Adams Screenprint to open up an alternative fan site to offer more specialized items (think tie-dye, beanies and more!). Info will always be posted on our Facebook page.

You keep mentioning a Facebook page, where do I find it?
Follow us HERE to see the quickest updates on all things Fireballs. Upcoming events, asks for volunteers, successes from our teams and players! We also have an Instagram page as well and you can follow it HERE.

I want to help out more and get involved, how do I do that?
We welcome all the help we can get! Join an upcoming Board member to learn more or possibly join as a new Board member! Dates are typically the 3rd week of the month and dates are posted on our Facebook page.
